ACTIVE LIVING

The Active Living workgroup established action plans using a Results-Based Accountability Framework. Results Based Accountability (RBA) is a method for learning, planning, and taking action used across organizations to improve the quality of life for communities, cities, counties, states and nations. RBA starts with ends and works backwards, step-by-step, to means.

Active Living Result statement: Cleveland County will be a community that creates equitable and safe opportunities for active living for all people.

Active Living Action Plans

Current Initiatives:

  • Live Healthy Cleveland County is a document created by the Cleveland County Health Department that promotes increased opportunities for active living. The document highlights locations of parks, playgrounds, tracks and trails. (Add attached photo/map)
  • The coalition conducted a walk audit in Kingstown. Walk audits are designed assess neighborhoods or towns, and to brainstorm ways to make it easier for people of all ages and abilities to safely walk around their community. The AARP & Communities Moving Together assessment tools were used, and recommendations were provided to Mayor, Janet Gerald.
  • Partnered with City of Kings Mountain to promote Kings Mountain Historical Walking Trail. Signage along the route features Healthy Together Cleveland. Kings Mountain Downtown Historical Walking Tour - Clio (theclio.com)
  • According to the 2019 Cleveland County Community Health Assessment, diabetes is the fourth leading cause of death for 40-64 years olds in Cleveland County.  Prediabetes can lead to heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.
